“My work life is quite stressful and I need to take in a lot of new information every day. The health programme at Kurhotel Skodsborg where I work out with, among others, Thomas Rode, and participate in “SaunaGus” means that I get more energy in my everyday life,” says TV Host, Felix Smith.
Felix is known from the TV programmes “Voice” and “Denmark has Talent” and has recently landed his dream job hosting “Go’ Aften Danmark” (Good Evening Denmark) on Denmark’s largest TV channel, TV 2.
At home Felix is also quite the busy bee with two sons aged 3 and 9, and his wife, Marie Schmidt, who writes cookbooks for children and feeds 100 children every lunch time in a day care institution.
Felix’s boyish charm is one of the reasons the Danes love him but he recently turned forty which means that “you stop and take the time to analyse your life situation”.
A Unique Tailor-made Health Programme
As Felix Smith was making his mid-life status he chose to have one of the unique, tailor-made health programmes, which Kurhotel Skodsborg offers in collaboration with MD Jens Thygesen from Thygesen Health.
The programme takes its starting point in Felix, his life situation and his everyday life. It includes a health examination and in-depth conversations with MD Jens Thygesen as well as our unique fitness test followed up by advice from a personal trainer.
Normally our Nutritionist, Gitte Høj, would also contribute to the programme but Felix’s wife Marie employs her professional chef’s knowledge about healthy food. “We have kale every day,” says Felix with a glint in his eye, so this was not judged to be necessary in Felix’s case.
“The Programme Motivates me to Work Out and Eat Healthy Food”
”We Danes do not look up our GP unless we are ill, and it is not even possible to have preventive health examinations at this level at a private GP’s,” says Felix Smith.
Felix’s initial examination with, among other tests, a full blood count as well as ultrasound scans of his liver and his neck artery showed that everything was “all round good”.
And now, six months later, it is all round even better!
Felix has, however, chosen to continue the programme, saying: “The money for the programme is well spent. The measurable results motivate me to work out and eat healthy food.”
”I Have Not Been Ill One Single Time”
“I work out two to three times a week with Thomas Rode or one of the other instructors. I have worked out with all the instructors and they are all great,” says Felix Smith.
Membership at Skodsborg Spa Fitness is part of the programme and Felix has become especially fond of SaunaGus – and preferably with our reigning Danish champion, Henrik Baunkjær Sørensen.
“I have not been ill one single time, since I began working out here, despite the fact that I am exposed to kindergarten bacteria and what have you every day,” says Felix. In his opinion SaunaGus should be a major part of the credit for his strong health.
“I have googled it and if you enter a 100 degrees warm sauna and jump into ice cold water afterwards your body thinks you are about to die and boosts your immune system.”
He especially recommends SaunaGus in the evening.
“If I do it in the morning I simply get too tired but an evening “gus” ensures me a great night’s sleep,” he smiles.

“That’s the advantage of being married to a chef,” he smiles and says about the healthy best seller: “This is as sinful as it gets at our place.”
