If you have a sweet tooth a visit to our The Lobby could be a great idea.
At the annual Confectioner’s Championship, “Cake of the Year”, on Saturday 10 March 2018 at Hotel Crowne Plaza in Copenhagen, our young pastry chefs took 1st to 4th place. And you can taste all the cakes in our The Lobby…
Young, Ambitious Pastry Chef won 1st place
23-year old pastry chef and chef’s apprentice, Fredrik Holst Benthin, took 1st place in ”Cake of the Year 2018”. He won with “Sunshine”, a dream-like creation with passionfruit curd on ginger biscuit decorated with lemon sour cream. Frederik is a trained confectioner; he won The Nordic Championship in 2015 and has been a member of the Danish National Pastry Chefs-team for three years.
“A Joy to Watch Young People Develop”
”I am immensely proud of the first place at “Cake of the Year”-competition. The last couple of years I have made it to fifth place twice, so it feels great to finally win the competition. The fact that my colleagues from Kurhotel Skodsborg win second, third and fourth place only makes me more proud to be part of such an amazing team,” says Frederik Holst Benthin.
”It is a young and very competent confectioner’s team we have at Kurhotel Skodsborg and I am almost bursting from pride over the results they have achieved at “Cake of the Year”. It is a true joy to watch when young people develop and have the ambitions and ability to think outside the box,” says Mai Kappenberger, CEO at Kurhotel Skodsborg.
